6 Trendy winter trench coats that won’t date

  • 0

I don’t know about you, but winter is one of those seasons that inspire me to wear everything I own (including my duvet cover), and by far one of the most unforgiving seasons when it comes to style. Thanks to celebs like Cara Delevinge and Audrey Hepburn the classic trench has become a wardrobe must have, putting this stylish gown on my winter staple list. It is one of the easiest ways to take any outfit from dead drab to perfectly polished – need I say more? So I have hunted down my top timeless favorites.

R1555 pic-tileI’m obsessed with two toned anything, I just love the versatility it offers, so it’s no surprise that this black and beige ensemble from MANGO makes the list. Although I would definitely wear this piece with a belt (to create that hour glass waistline), I just love the way it can also be worn without and give you two totally different looks. The wide lapels are broad enough to throw over your shoulder to create that “oh so glam” look for any occasion. So, I know what you are thinking, you don’t want to blow the bank balance on a MANGO – good news this one is on sale, and for the price it’s going for it won’t be in stock for very long!

I’ve fallen in love with various lengths of trenches ranging from just above the ankles to above the knee, but classically the trench coat is renown for it’s longer hemlines drawing inspiration from as early as World War 1.  Given that Plum is everywhere you look this season, MANGO have sucessfully morphed the perfect combination of vintage and trend to bring us this plum piece. If you are looking for something fresh to add a splash of colour to that tedious winter black (we so comfortably gravitate toward) this classical coat is a must.

R850-tileIf you don’t want to break the bank on a MANGO piece then the medium length melton coat is a stylish winter investment, this unstructured wrap-front melton coat is tailored with over sized lapels, deep pockets and comes with an optional belt from Woolworths. If Malenge is more your thing, then you can opt for the slightly more affordable alternative.

This cropped trench from MANGO is by far the trendiest of the bunch, however it is classic enough to wear for many seasons to come. With it’s contrasting black zipper and back design detail it’s a standout statement piece that will have heads turning.

Poetry has a nose for sniffing out timeless garbs, so if Voguish comfort is your thing then this is the one to swaddle yourself in this winter. It’s waterfall lapels create stunning shape and make it an instant winner.

With so many options out there it’s difficult to decide which cut works for you. Don’t miss my next blog on what trenches work for your body shape.
