In 1998, Janine Starkey, the Founder and CEO of Tweak 'n Style, began her journey in fashion after qualifying as a Fashion Designer from LISOF (now STADIO School of Fashion). Her first role was with Egoli, Franz Marx Films, where she progressed from a wardrobe standby to a wardrobe mistress within five years. This experience taught her the art of transforming individuals through fashion.
In 2003, Janine embarked on her path as a Creative Entrepreneur, styling some of South Africa's top names in the film industry and crafting the image of one of the country’s leading music groups. She later became the stylist for Mnet's Carte Blanche team and then worked alongside the CEO of Stuttafords International to establish South Africa’s first in-store personal shopping service. Here, she trained and mentored six young stylists to serve as Stuttafords personal shoppers.
Tweak 'n Style has always maintained a strong focus on corporate engagements, with Janine as a keynote speaker for companies like Norton Rose Fulbright, Deloitte, Sanofi, Discovery, ABSA, and even governmental bodies. Over the past 20 years, she launched Tweak, a clothing line for women seeking versatile, modular garments, yet her passion remained with styling. For the past 15 years, Janine and her team have dedicated themselves to training the next generation of Image & Style consultants, with 158 young professionals now part of her legacy.
In 2023, Janine took on a new challenge as GM at FEDISA Fashion School, working closely with students to understand their ambitions and needs. This role inspired her to shape the Academy to meet the evolving needs of creative students, paving the way for the next generation of fashion innovators.
